Background

National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. NCPOR, Goa gladly invites entries for the Painting Competition and Short Comic Story Writing Competition to celebrate the 75 years of India’s independence- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Antarctica Day. NCPOR celebrates Antarctica Day to commemorate the signing of Antarctic Treaty in the year 1959 (came into force in 1961). The Antarctic Treaty is a testimony of the international collaboration in Antarctic Research. According to the treaty, Antarctica has been kept only for scientific and peaceful purposes. NCPOR, Goa, under the aegis of Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India executes National Polar Programs to Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Southern Ocean. It maintains India’s research bases (Maitri and Bharati) in Antarctica and Himadri in the Arctic. Recently, in 2020, India has marked the completion of 40 years of its visible presence in Antarctica.


Guidelines

Steps to be followed to participate in the competition:

1. Interested candidates have to register to participate in the competition. After registration, participants can log in using their registered email id and registration number and submit their art work (Painting or Short Comic Story) through the Participation form.

2. Participants can download their particpation certificates after the declaration of result i.e. 1st December 2021.
